ATTORNEY PROFILE

Matthew C. Zittel is “home grown,” having been born and raised in Belleville, Illinois. He graduated cum laude from McKendree College in 1994 with degrees in Accounting and Business Administration. He attended Southern Illinois University School of Law where he obtained his J.D. in 1997. He is licensed to practice law in Illinois and Missouri. He is admitted to practice in the U.S. District Court, Central and Southern Districts of Illinois, U.S. District Court for Eastern District of Missouri, and the Seventh Circuit Court of Appeals.

Mr. Zittel joined the firm in 1996 while working as a law clerk and made partner in 2004. He is highly valued as an excellent trial and appellate lawyer. His practice focuses on personal injury defense, medical and dental malpractice defense, and general insurance defense. He routinely handles complex litigation matters, resulting in successful verdicts/results for his representative clients. He is well-versed in all forms of alternative dispute resolution, including mediation and arbitration. His broad litigation experience covers handling cases from the claims stage through the appeal process.

When not working, Matt enjoys spending time with his family and playing golf. He is very involved in his children’s activities, which includes coaching various youth sports teams. He volunteers his time at his church and at his children’s school. He is an avid St. Louis Cardinals and Dallas Cowboys fan. He lives in Belleville, Illinois with his wife, son, and daughter.
